The Chatham Maroons have started rebuilding their blueline with the addition of 17-year-old defenseman Jake Fields.

Fields is entering his second season of Junior hockey, having spent last season with the Amherstburg Admirals of the PJHL Stobbs Division.

“He is a throwback player in a lot of ways as he is as tough as they come as he plays the game with a lot of sandpaper. Not one to shy away from the physical nature of the game Jake will make it very difficult on opposing players when they come into Memorial Arena next season,” the Maroons news release read.

“In addition to those skills he brings an excellent first pass and a heavy shot from the point.”

Fields was Amherstburg’s underage player last year, collecting 3 goals and 9 points in 36 games for the Admirals.

A graduate of the Windsor Jr. Spitfires ‘AAA’ system, Fields will attend main camp with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals in August.
