Our All-Canadians: Chatham-Kent’s Best And Brightest
Happy Canada Day!
Here is a look at some of Chatham-Kent’s current and more recent Team Canada representatives.
We grow for the world, including on the sports playing field.
We also think, you’ll be saying both Oh, Canada, and Oh, Chatham-Kent, when you realize how many athletes we currently have representing our country.
Bridget Carleton – Chatham – Of course, the Queen herself. Bridget has been on Canada’s National Women’s Basketball team for over a year, and she’ll represent Canada at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. She came up through each level of Basketball Canada’s program.
Breanne Nicholas – Blenheim – Another soon to be Olympian, Nicholas has been suiting up with Canada’s National Women’s Rugby 7s roster for a few years. Perennially one of Chatham-Kent’s top athletes.
Madison Broad and Genevieve Sasseville – Wallaceburg and Chatham – Two budding swimming stars, Broad has swam with Canada at the Pan Am Games, and will again this summer, while Sasseville is cracking Canada’s National Junior squad. Let’s go Canada!
Kyle Dawson – Florence – Yes, Florence isn’t Chatham-Kent, but Dawson is a Dresden and Wallaceburg regular. He was a key contributor for Canada’s gold medal winning National Junior indoor lacrosse team.
Brady Hogg – Thamesville – Possibly better known locally as a hockey player, internationally Hogg is a talented softball player having played for Canada’s National Junior team last summer.
Nick Wammes – Bothwell – Don’t blink or you’ll miss him, Wammes is fast on the oval, cycling for Canada at multiple competitions over the last several years.
Meghan Agosta – Ruthven – File this in the close but we’re calling her ours category, born outside CK, Agosta honed her hockey skills in Chatham-Kent before starring for Team Canada’s National Women’s hockey team on many, many occasions over the last several years.
Ashley Goure – Has been a member of Canada’s Sledge Hockey team in recent years, playing a key role for her country.
Emma Pegg – Morpeth – Probably the newest addition to this list, Pegg will run for Team Canada’s U18 team in the 800m race this summer.
Pierce Johnson – Chatham – An up and coming volleyball player, Johnson has competed for Canada at the Universaide, and is in competition for a promotion to Canada’s bigger National teams.
Travis Konecny and Brandon Montour – These guys have suited up for Canada’s National hockey programs in recent seasons when they aren’t starring on the NHL level. TJ Brodie and Seth Griffith also have played for Canada in the past.
Ally Oulds – The hurdler ran at the Pan American Games a year ago for Canada finishing 5th.
Hokey Langan and Rachael Tricker – These two have multiple medals for Canada’s National Ball Hockey team, starring for their team overseas.
That’s where will stop, with shoutouts to other recent Team Canada members Luke Van Rycheghem, Laura Gillet, Derek Whitson, and Mallory Johnston.
Did we miss someone? Tell us about it.
