During the week of August 2-11 the Ontario Lacrosse Association hosted their provincials in Whitby.

This event was the largest minor lacrosse event in the world, dubbed the Ontario Lacrosse festival.

Wallaceburg minor lacrosse sent several teams to the event and many had success, bringing home some titles.

In the boy’s tyke B division, the Griffins claimed the gold medal with a 7-4 win over the Guelph Regals. The Griffins overall count was 5 and 1 for the tournament.

In the peewee B division Wallaceburg suffered a 3-0 defeat to local foes the Sarnia Pacers, and had to settle for silver. The peewee Griffins overall record was 3-1-2.

On the girls side the Intermediate Griffins suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 lose to the Mississauga Tomahawks. What made this defeat tough was the fact that in pool play, the Griffins defeated the Tomahawks. The reigning champions had a 3-1 record in the tournament.

Wallaceburg’s bantam girls would claim the B title with a 3-0 over the Arthur Aces. The bantam girls had a perfect 4-0 record.
