Marandee Hunter and Kealy Taylor-Noah won silver at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick with the London Lightning fastball team.

London went undefeated in pool play defeating the provincial gold medalists from New Brunswick in the first game, then the silver medalists. They went on to defeat the PEI silver medalists, and then the Nova Scotia gold medalists in extra innings. That put them first in their pool.

The team, which features the pair of Chatham-Kent products, advanced to Sunday to play the first place team in the other pool (5 in each pool) which were the gold medal winners from Ontario, Tavistock.

London defeated Tavistock to advance to the gold medal round.

They played Napanee the bronze medal provincial winners. This time London had their first loss of the championship to get the silver.

Hunter will now remain in Fredericton to play USports hockey for the St. Thomas Tommies women’s varsity team.
