Negri Continues To Showcase Her Talent
The 11-year-old thrower, who competes in shot put and discus, joined the University of Windsor Athletics Club this summer.
Negri won a gold medal in discus at the MTA Outdoor Provincial Championships held in Brampton in late July with her winning throw of 23.56m. Her throw broke the MTA Outdoor Record for 11 year old girls.
In other MTA events, she also captured another gold in discus, and 1 gold and 1 bronze in shot put.
Travelling to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete at the Ny’esha Flanigan Memorial Invitational earlier this summer, Negri won the silver medal in the 2.73kg shot put and the gold medal in the 1kg discus. This was Emma’s first time throwing the 1kg discus in competition
In June, Negri competed in both discus and the 3kg shot put as an underage Bantam at the Legion District A Championship in LaSalle, Ontario. She won the silver in discus and placed 4th in shot put.
Finally, in August, Negri competed in the Athletics Ontario U14, U16 & U18 Championship in Windsor. She is technically a U12, but neither shot put nor discus are offered for U12, nor is there a championship, so Emma competed as an underage U14. She placed a very respectful 5th place in the 3 kg shot put and 4th in discus.
