Bridget Carleton practices with Canada leading up to the AmeriCup

Canada’s women’s basketball team begins their road to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this week.

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton will play a central role in achieving that goal.

This week, she’ll play for Canada at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in San Juan, Peurto Rico.

Carleton recently finished her rookie WNBA campaign splitting time between the Connecticut Sun, and her current team, the Minnesota Lynx. After the AmeriCup, she’ll travel to Australia to play in the WNBL with the Townsville Fire.

Canada will open play against Mexico on Sunday, Cuba on Monday, Peurto Rico on Tuesday, and the Dominican Republic on Thursday to wrap up pool play.

The top teams from this event continue to process toward qualification for the Olympics.

Thanks for covering our Lynx player, Bridget Carleton. Puerto Rico is spelled with the u before e. Not Peurto Rico. Thanks.
