New League Set To “Play It 4Ward”
Breaking a sweat, making a difference.
A group of 4 Chatham-Kent women have joined forces to develop a multi-sport league that aims to give back to the community they were all raised in and continue to call home.
The league, which has been branded “Play It 4ward” promises a minimum of 50% of each $100 registration fee to be donated to one of four charities that are either local to Chatham-Kent or service Chatham-Kent residents.
This year’s 4 Charitable Organizations that will be on the receiving end of the leagues charitable donation include:
- Pet And Wildlife Rescue
- Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre
- Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network
- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario
The season, which runs over 30 weeks, will consist of a different sport each week and include common ones such as basketball and volleyball, as well as less common ones like tchoukball and ultimate frisbee. The league will also utilize recreational facilities across Chatham-Kent for activities like curling, bowling, slo-pitch and disc golf.
The league is also asking that any Chatham-Kent individuals or businesses who may be interested in contributing to the leagues support of one or more of these charitable organizations, do so by contacting playit4wardck@gmail.com
Congrats Katie – We are so very proud of you and your 3 friends for spearheading this initiative. I want to support it and will follow through,
Dianne
