The Chatham-Kent Bantam ‘A’ Crush went 5-1 to take the gold in their first tournament of the season at Pink The Rink in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Game 1 saw the Crush defeat the Durham West Lighting by a score of 3-1. Lindsay St. Germain had a goal and an assist with Adriana Pizzutti adding a goal, Hudson DeNure with an assist, and Jeanette Legere sealing it with the empty netter. 

In game #2 against the Brampton Canadettes, the Crush were able to pull out another 3-1 victory. Jeanette Legere had the first 2 goals and Morgyn Woudenberg added the 3rd. Assists by Lindsay St. Germain (2) and Karys VanDeWeile.

The Bantam’s played a 3rd game on Friday against the Central York Panthers, falling 3-1. The lone CK goal was scored by Leah Day.

In the quarter finals Chatham-Kent had to kill off 12-minutes in penalties en route to a 1-0 victory against the Barrie Sharks, the #2 ranked team in Ontario. Abby Tape had the lone goal of the game assisted by Lucie Maine and Alex Maryschak. Libby Barnard posted the shutout.

The Bantam Chatham-Kent Crush then defeated the Whitby Wolves 1-0 in the semi-final game Sunday morning. The Crush’s lone goal was scored by Lindsay St. Germain with Amber Parent posting the shutout.

In a hard fought final game after a long weekend, Chatham-Kent came out on top with a 2-0 win against South Huron. The goal scorers were Lindsay St. Germain and Abby Tape. Alex Maryschak had an assist and Libby Barnard posted her second shutout of the tournament. 

Lindsay St. Germain was also named the team’s Abby Tran Award recipient for the tournament. The award is given to the player who demonstrates fair play, leadership, respect for opponents, dedication, attitude and effort, and is gracious in winning or losing.
