Scouting Report: Waddick Shines, Major Bantam Cyclones Create Buzz

By Matt Pepper

A lot of buzz is going around with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones 2005 Major Bantam team and their winning record.

Strong performances at both ends of the rink have seen them become one of the hottest teams out of the gate this year. Here is a brief synopsis of the last two games:

October 5th Windsor vs Chatham-Kent

Excellent game by the goaltenders in this one as it was undoubtedly a goal tender match – up. Both Tre Altiman and Daniel Piccolo kept this game tight all game as they battled screen shots and traffic for 3 periods each.

The only goal in this game came from #71 Adrian Bosev of Windsor who scored a backhand goal on the breakaway, that ended up being the game winner as Windsor defeated Chatham 1-0.

Some notables from this game:

#34 Daniel Piccolo, G, Windsor Jr. Spitfires – Battled all game and really good down low. Excellent leg and split saves in tight. Saw the puck well all game.

#88 Carter Mayne, F, Windsor Jr. Spitfires – Good physical player in this one that really opened up plays for his time. Displayed a good wrist shot with a solid release.

#91 Connor Paronuzzi, F, Windsor Jr. Spitfires – A good skater with the puck. Thinks the game well and can disperse the puck when needed.

#1 Tre Altiman, G, Chatham-Kent Cyclones – Much like Piccolo, really battled through traffic in this game. Worked hard to see point shots through traffic and showed a good glove on high shots. Was beaten on a perfect shot off the breakaway.

#55 TJ Pollard, F, Chatham-Kent Cyclones – Showed excellent speed in this game and really used it to drives plays when he was on the ice. Involved all game in the offensive rushes.

#91 Brayden DeGelas, F, Chatham-Kent Cyclones – Really enjoyed his game at both ends of the rink. Has excellent speed up the wing, good release on his shot, and a good Hockey IQ when using other teammates.

October 9th Sun County vs Chatham-Kent

CK Product Declan Waddick rolled into town and did not disappoint as he was completely dominant in
this one. Overall good game by both teams, but the play in Waddick in particular sealed this one. Sun
County left Chatham with a 4 – 2 win.

Some notables from this game:

#24 Declan Waddick, F, Sun County Panthers – Fantastic game with two goals. Excellent shot with a
hard and accurate release. Gap breaking speed and a comittment in the defensive zone. Special player to watch. Was the most dominant player on the ice in this game.

#16 T Hamlin, F, Sun County Panthers – Scored a goal in the slot in this game. Fearless in front of the net. Works hard on the forecheck and the Powerplay.

#81 David Brown, F, Chatham-Kent Cyclones – Scored an absolute rocket on the power play in this game. Was excellent on special and worked the puck well with his teammates with the man advantage.

#91 Brayden DeGelas, F, Chatham-Kent Cyclones – All over the puck again this one. Really enjoy his
speed with the puck and his ability to utilize his teammates.
