The Blenheim Blades were able hold the Wallaceburg Thunderhawks off the score sheet for a 2-0 win Sunday night in Blenheim.

The game was a rather chippy affair with both teams playing short handed often, and not a lot of flow to
the game.

The Blades Tyler Davis put his team up with a quick goal 1:32 seconds into the first period. That would be all the scoring until the Alex Cunningham put the Blades up by two, at the 3:29 mark of the third. Blenheim outshot Wallaceburg by a count of 46-20, and Thunderhawks’ goaltender Jacob Lister was a standout.

Blades’ Chris Dewulf registered the shutout.

The Thunderhawks, who the night before suffered a tough 6-0 beating at the hands of the powerhouse Lakeshore Canadiens, bounced back to play a solid game in Blenheim and are showing signs of development. The Thunderhawks next game is on Wednesday in Wheatley against the Sharks, a team that has surrendered Wallaceburg’s two wins.

The Blades are off till Saturday when they host the Petrolia Flyers.
