Maroons Can’t Overcome Flyers

The Chatham Maroons fell behind early before putting in a valiant comeback effort, which fell just short Sunday night, as the home team fell 5-4 to the Leamington Flyers.

Maddux Rychel and Dallas Maurovic had a goal and an assist for the Maroons, while Blake Petterle and Evan Wells also scored.

Chatham fell behind 2-0 in the game before managing to tie the score 3-3 heading into the third.

Leamington however was too much, pulling ahead in the final frame.

Former Blenheim Blades and Chatham-Kent Cyclones forwards Cameron Symons, two assists, and Lucas Fancy, one assist, found the scoresheet for the Leamington Flyers. Local product Thomas Michaud was one of Leamington’s top two-way presences in the game.

New Chatham Maroons goalie Darian McTavish made 34 saves in the loss for Chatham, his first start with the team.
