Matteis Shines With Team Canada In Barbados

Chatham Pool Shark Quinn Matteis was in top form at the Barbados Open Water Festival held on Carlisle Bay recently.

Matteis was the youngest of twenty-two Junior team members from across Canada.

Competing in the 1.5km and 5km open water races, Matteis was a shining light for Team Canada. He was 4th of 93 swimmers in the 5km going a time of 59.54.9, averaging 1:12 per 100m. For his 14 & U age group, he was 1st.

In the 1.5km race, Matteis was 6th out of 322 total swimmers. He was 6th out of 153 male swimmers and 5th in his age category, Men’s 13-17. His time was 17.12.8 averaging about 1.09 per 100m.

Pool Sharks Head Coach Brian Lindsay was one of five Assistant Coaches was very pleased with Quinn’s performances.

“He really showed his grit and determination. It was nice to see how well he adapted to the changes in his training environment leading into the competition. He represented our Country, Community and organization with class. It was a great experience for both of us!”
