Blades Struggle To Find Offence Against 73s
It only took one goal for a team to pick up two points Sunday night in Blenheim, unfortunately for the Blades, Essex got it.
The only goal of the game came at the 12:55 point of the third when the Blades let 73’s Ty Moss break in alone on goaltender Chris Dewulf and beat him for a 1-0 lead. That goal would stand, and Essex would leave town with the win.
The game was entertaining and good scoring opportunities were scarce for both teams.
The Blades were missing several key players due to suspensions and injuries. Winning Essex goaltender Connor Meyerink stopped 21 shots to earn the shutout. Dewulf stopped 25 or 26 shots for the loss.
The Blades are off till Saturday when the travel to Mooretown to face the 2nd place Flags. They then return home Sunday for a rematch with the Dresden Kings.
