The saying nothing beats being home for the holidays held true last night as the Dresden Kings defeated the Blenheim Blades by a 4-2 score in Dresden. The Blades topped the Kings at home last Sunday to start the Christmas break, and
last night the Kings returned the favour.

The Blades got on the scoreboard first when Zach VanBoxtel scored at 5:37 of the 1st. The Kings evened things up when Derek Shaw scored his first of two goals at 12:27. In the second Andre Brett scored a power play goal for Dresden at 11:12. Derek Shaw scored his second of the night with fifteen seconds left in the 2nd period to head to change room up 3-1.

Thirty one seconds into the 3rd period the Kings went up 4-1 with a goal by Josh Noah. That would be all the scoring until Nick Tetrault scored with the goaltender pulled at 19:27 to bring the final score to 4-2.

The Blades lack of discipline nullified a couple of power play opportunities that may have got them back in the game. Both goaltenders, Dresdens Aiden Lucyk and Blades Caleb Pinsonneault had solid games, making key saves for their teams. The shot count was 28-27 in favour of the Blades.
