Kings Win All CK Battle As Blades Lead Evaporates
The Blenheim Blades had a three goal after Nick Tetreault scored at the 3:14 mark of the 2nd period, after that it would be all Dresden Kings. Dresden never showed any signs of surrender, and Kings Andre Brett scored on the power play at 7:55 of the second to cut the lead to two. Dresden’s Breck Rainey scored at the halfway mark of the period to cut the Blades lead to one. Brantley Kuipers scored on a power play to tie the game at 4-4 at 15:01. The teams retired to their rooms with the game knotted up.
Kings Chandler Glassford scored at 1:03 of the 3rd to take the lead for the first time in the game. The third period featured a lot of penalties with the Blades coming out on the short end and having to defend when a goal was needed. The Blades were awarded a penalty shot midway through the period when Malcolm Campbell was hauled down by Kings Derek Shaw. The shot was stopped by Kings goaltender Aiden Lucyk to preserve the 5-4 lead.
In the first Blenheim had goals from Zac VanBoxtel , Sebastian Stubberfield, Nick Tetreault. Dresden had a goal from Shane Depelsmaeker. Blades goaltender Chris Dewulf faces 34 shots and Kings Lucyk took the win while he faced 30 shots.
The Blades are next at home on Sunday to face Essex, while Dresden plays Mooretown in Mooretown Saturday night.
