Wildcats Novice Boys Capture First Win Of The Season

The Chatham-Kent Wildcats Novice Boys basketball team participated in their first tournament of the season this past weekend; playing in the St. Thomas Shock Winter Classic.

The Wildcats had some tough losses in pool play but finished strong with a hard earned win in their final game.

In their opening game against the host team, Braelen Baylis led the team with 4 points and 1 assist while Ugo Adefarasin contributed 3 points and 1 steal. Gabe Deighton had 2 points and 2 steals while Carter Segee held a strong defensive play with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.

In their second game, they battled against a tough and much taller St.Clair College Jr Saints team. Ugo Adefarasin led the team with 7 points and 3 steals, Braelen Baylis contributed 4 points and Gabe Deighton had 3 points and 1 assist.

To finish out pool play CK took a tough loss against Huron Lakers. Ugo Adefarasin led the team with 5 points along with 2 blocks and 2 steals while Carter Segee, Dionte Vandenbogaerde, and Tommy Grochmal each contributed 2 points. Gabe Deighton had a strong defensive game with 6 steals.

In their final game, CK held their lead throughout the game, finishing with a 28-14 win against London Jr. Ramblers. Ugo Adefarasin led the team with 7 points, 2 assists and an amazing 10 steals while Latrell Cobey-Hutchings was also strong at both ends with 6 points, 2 assists and 5 steals. Braelen Baylis contributed 6 points, 1 assist and 2 steals while Elijah Brown had 4 points and 3 steals. Carter Segee continued his strong defensive play with 7 steals and 8 rebounds while Jack Chickowski contributed 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
