If you are a fan of the game of hockey, and like watching it live, this is your time of the year. With all the different minor hockey leagues either in play downs or soon entering them, there is no shortage of games to get out and watch.

Chatham Kent has entries in OMHA, OWHA, and Alliance, so depending on your interest there should be something for everyone.

Looking for a story I ventured over to Thames Campus and caught the Kent Major Peewee AA Cobras game against the Belle River Canadiens. As it turned out this was the deciding game of their playoff series. Chatham took the first game of the series 4-1, the Canadiens the second game by a 3-2 score. The series was a 4-pts affair, so tonight’s game would decide who advanced.

As was fitting for this pair of teams, the game ended up tied at 2-2 after regulation. This forced an overtime period, and unfortunately for the home team Belle River scored to win the series. Cobras Brady Robertson had both goals for his team, and goaltender Emma McDonald was strong between the pipes.

So, get out there and support the local up and coming players, you may catch a great game like the one I witnessed tonight. And if you would like to see some more pics from the game, go over to our Facebook site.
