Major Bantam Cobras On A Roll
The Kent Major Bantam AA Cobras are rolling along in their OMHA playdowns. As of this writing the Cobras are up two wins to none against their second-round opponents Belle River Canadiens. They already eliminated the Windsor Jr Spitfires in short order, three games straight.
The Cobras finished atop of the regular season standings with a record of 19-3-2 in Bluewater play. The Kent team had a strong 102 GF vs 39 GA. Last season as a minor bantam’s, this group went deep, losing in the semi’s in OMHA playdowns.
Friday night in their opening game against the Canadiens, they had a strong game and came away with a 2-1 win. The Cobras carried the play, and the score was not a good indication of the play. Aidan Wheeler put the home team Cobras on the scoreboard first. Ryder Polowick put the Cobras up 2-0. It wasn’t until later in the 3 rd period that Belle River would find the back of the net. The Canadiens did pull their tender to try and get the equalizer, but they really couldn’t generate any good opportunities. Saturday’s game two in Belle River saw the Cobras win by a 3-2 score.
