Fox, Hope Play In Front Of Empty Arena Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak, Fans Banned From Arenas
Thamesville’s Dane Fox and Blenheim’s Kyle Hope played in front of an empty arena during Friday’s Metal Ligaen game as country and league officials have banned fans from arenas in response to coronavirus fears.
Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called for the cancellation of all events, including sports which have more than 1000 spectators.
In order to finish their season, Metal Ligaen officials decided to play out the year without spectators in the arena.
Denmark’s Super League, the country’s top soccer league is also banning fans from games for the remainder of the year, while continuing to play.
The only personnel allowed into the arena are players, team staff, referees, administrative staff, and accredited press.
Fox and Hope helped the Frederikshavn White Hawks win the Metal Ligaen Final Four earlier this season.
