On Saturday, the inaugural Kent Cup of Curling has hosted by Blenheim’s Golden Acres Curling Club. All four of Chatham-Kent’s curling clubs (Chatham Granite Club, Golden Acres Curling Club, Ridgetown Golf & Curling Club, and Sydenham Community Curling Club) proudly battled against each other in the spirit of competition and camaraderie.

Each club submitted one team in each of the four divisions of play: Men, Women, Mixed, and Senior Mixed.

The hosts, Golden Acres, were crowned champions by amassing 15 points. Chatham Granite placed second with 9 points, followed by Sydenham with 6 points, and Ridgetown with 3 points.

This event was made possible when representatives from each club met last spring to discuss and organize this unique event.

It was an extremely successful day that featured great curling, great sportsmanship, and great enthusiasm from the spectators.

Curling is alive and well in Chatham-Kent! If you would like to know more about how to get involved in curling in your area, please contact your local curling club in Blenheim, Chatham, Ridgetown, or Wallaceburg.
