Pierce Johnson Named OUA West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year
Last year’s Windsor Lancers male athlete of the year, and also named an OUA First Team All-Star this season, Johnson, a 6’4″ outside hitter totalled 196 kills this season, 22 aces, 35 blocks, and 76 digs. His 239 points were 4th in the conference.
“This award reflects how respected Pierce is among the coaches in our league,” said Windsor Lancer men’s volleyball head coach James Gravelle in a school news release.
“He has developed into a dominant offensive player who makes very few attacking errors. His efficiency in the second half of this season was remarkable as he had several matches with only 1 or even zero attacking errors on 25 or more attempts.”
“The really good news is that Pierce still has room for improvement and his incredible work ethic and discipline mean that next season could be even better.”
Johnson is also up for a WESPY Award as Male Athlete of the Year and Male Volleyball Player of the Year, and represented Canada at the Summer Universiade in 2017 and 2019.
He was the Chatham-Kent Sports Network Male Athlete of the Year in 2018.
