DJ Degelas Named Alliance Hockey Volunteer of the Year
Blenheim’s DJ Degelas has been named Alliance Hockey’s 2019-2020 Volunteer of the Year.
The following is Alliance Hockey’s news announcement:
DJ Degelas is a High Performance 1 coach who most recently was the Head Coach with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Bantam AAA team during the 2019-2020 season.
Degelas has worked with the 2005 age group for numerous years, including stints as Head Coach from 2014 through 2017. The Bantam Cyclones had five players advance to the ALLIANCE Hockey All-Star game in 2019.
“This team definitely surpassed expectations right from the start of the season. DJ injected a sense of pride into not only this team, but the Cyclone organization,” stated Chatham-Kent Cyclones President Jack Brown.
Degelas is known to have an ability to develop the passion for hockey within his players and does a great job of creating a connection with his players. Coach Degelas assisted with other Cyclone teams this past season and there was a positive shift within the organization, that in part, stems from his involvement.
“Coach Degelas ensures that the hockey experience is fun for the kids. They love going to practice as much as they enjoy going to games. The overall atmosphere that he creates is focused on promoting a safe and fun experience,” continued Chatham-Kent Cyclones President Jack Brown.
Thank you for your contributions and congratulations DJ Degelas for being named the 2019-2020 ALLIANCE Hockey Volunteer of the Year!
