On The Line… With Janice Forsyth

On this episode of “On The Line” we speak with Janice Forsyth.

Janice is an associate professor of sociology at Western University in London, where Janice serves as the Director of Indigenous Studies. Janice is interested in exploring sport’s relationship to Indigenous and Canadian culture, especially as it relates to matters of inequality, health, and social change.

We spoke about the colonizing impacts of sport in residential schools, reconciliation through sport, what governing bodies can do to make sport more accessible for Indigenous youth, and her new book, Reclaiming Tom Longboat: Indigenous Self-Determination in Canadian Sport.
