Maroons Holding Off Skates Due To Unpredictable Future
The Chatham Maroons won’t be taking to the ice together in the near future.
“Due to the unpredictable and changing COVID environment, we will be holding off with practices for right now,” said Karen Szekesy, who owns the team with her husband Bill Szekesy.
Chatham has continued adding to the their roster in preparation for the 2020-2021 season, but right now, things are on hold with the safety of staff and players as the primary concern of ownership.
“Our priority is to keep our players and staff safe. We will be monitoring the situation moving forward.”
Teams across the province continue to struggle to find a balance between planning to play, finances, and keeping personnel safe.
While some teams have already folded, most, including the Maroons hope to be back on the ice when a season is possible.
