Brooke Michaud of Charing Cross will take her talents to the OUA level next season with the Ryerson University Rams women’s hockey team.

“I chose Ryerson because I really loved the campus and could see myself living in Toronto,” Michaud told CKSN. “The coaching staff was also a huge impact on my decision I love the way they run things and they have a lot of experience so i’m very excited to learn from them.

MIchaud, a Chatham Outlaws alumni, spent last season with the PWHL’s Southwest Wildcats, where she scored 8 goals and 18 points in 36 games before adding 3 points in 4 playoff games.

She’ll join a strong Ryerson Rams team that last season featured Dresden’s Lauren Nicholson and Blenheim’s Madison Lalonde. For Michaud, it’s the culmination of one of her hockey goals to commit at the USports level.

“It’s an amazing feeling since one of my goals has always been to play university hockey. I’m pretty excited to have the opportunity to play for such a good organization.”

By now, Michaud would typically be several games into her PWHL season with Southwest. The Wildcats are practicing, and Michaud says she’s working hard to prepare for the future.

“It’s tough since we aren’t allowed to play real games, but my team has been practicing hard and we push each other at every practice. I’ve been at the gym consistently as well to try and get stronger for the upcoming years.”

When she arrives on campus at Ryerson next year, Michaud will study criminology, and hopes to make an immediate impact on the ice.

“I’m hoping to continue to develop and learn as much as I can as a player and try to contribute offensively to the team.”

Brooke Michaud will join the Ryerson University Rams for the 2021-2022 season.
