Chatham Maroons Resume Practices In Preparation For Season
The Chatham Maroons are back on the ice.
The Maroons had stopped practices in September due to what owner Karen Szekesy called COVID-19’s unpredictable nature.
“Due to the unpredictable and changing COVID environment, we will be holding off with practices for right now,” said Karen Szekesy at the time.
But late Wednesday, Chatham sent out a media note stating “Chatham Maroons’ Head Coach / GM Tyler Roeszler announced tonight that the Maroons are back on the ice, practicing 3 times per week.”
Earlier this week the GOJHL announced their plans for allowing fans into the stands for the upcoming season.
Although the GOJHL originally set a December 2 return date for play, not schedule has been released, and other leagues, including the OHL have pushed back into the New Year.
It’s unlikely the GOJHL would be able to return December 2 unless a series of COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.
