The Chatham Maroons are bringing back one of the areas top defenders, signing Craig Spence.

Spence spent last season with the OJHL’s Georgetown Raiders after signing with the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads prior to the season.

“Craig is an elite defensemen in our league and we are fortunate to welcome him back to our organization,” said Maroons head coach and general manager Tyler Roeszler.

“Craig’s ability to be mobile and to get involved offensively on the rush and in the offensive zone makes him very difficult to defend. He is long and defends well. He will raise the level of our entire team with the way that he competes. Craig will be a leader for our group,” added Roeszler.

Last season in the OJHL, the six-foot-two blueliner had 16-points in 46 games.

A 7th round pick in 2017 of the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads, Spence spent his first Junior campaign in a Chatham Maroons jersey as a 16-year-old in 2018-2019.

He is an alumni of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones.
