CK’s Top 10 Sports Stories of 2020: #6 Oh Canada…CK’s National Athletes

Chatham-Kent is a small corner of Canada, but we have an unusually large representation on the National stage.

Jessie McPherson helped Canada win a U18 World Championships medal this year.

Nick Wammes was named to Canada’s Olympic Cycling roster.

Bridget Carleton (women’s basketball) and Breanne Nicholas (rugby 7s) also helped Canada qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games, which were eventually postponed.

Brady Stonehouse was invited to Canada’s U17 hockey camp, which was held virtually, while Brett Brochu participated in Canada’s World Junior Championships camp.

Cam Creechan was scheduled to kick for Canada’s entry in the Football World Junior Championships, an event which was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Wallaceburg’s Tyler Davis was named to Canada’s National Junior Lacrosse team.

And Hokey Langan was schedule to play for Canada at the Women’s World Ball Hockey Federation Championship.

Oh CKanada.
