Chatham-Kent’s Megan Pepper, Making CK Proud
Chatham-Kent sends athletes across Ontario, Canada, and the globe each year to compete athletically.
Sponsored by baCK to Chatham-Kent, we’ll be featuring local athletes who have left Chatham-Kent, and are proudly representing our community. We hope many of these athletic ambassadors for our community someday come baCK to call Chatham-Kent home.
This week, we feature Chatham’s Megan Pepper, who playing for the Windsor Lancers fastpitch team, is making CK proud.
Here are Megan’s responses to our baCK to Chatham-Kent athletes interview:
1. Can you describe what support you’ve felt from your hometown/ Chatham-Kent while you’ve been away?
I’m lucky to have lived close to Chatham and I’ve been able to see my family regularly. The support from this community has been nothing short of amazing! Through messages from friends who are further away and through emails of previous educators/coaches, this community has stayed with me.
2. What do you enjoy about coming home to visit?
I love being home on the farm and the peace of being away from the city. It’s also fun to go into town and visit the familiar places my family and I love!
3. Would you consider making Chatham-Kent home again some day?
If I do not end up living directly in Chatham, as it appears I may be living elsewhere once I graduate, I would never choose to live too far from it! It is too hard to be away from Chatham because it has been home to my family for generations.
4. What advice would you give to young athletes baCK home in Chatham-Kent?
No one is good at something the first time they try it; so don’t be discouraged! Things usually take more time and effort than expected.
