Matheson, Brothers Providing Dangerous 1-2 Punch In Germany

Local hockey products Cheyne Matheson and Kyle Brothers are providing a dangerous 1-2 punch for the EG Diez-Limburg Rockets in Germany’s Oberliga.

Matheson, a Wheatley product leads the Rockets in scoring with 24 goals and 41 points in 41 games. Matheson played his Junior hockey with the Wheatley Sharks and Leamington Flyers before advancing to the NCAA.

His totals sit him 12th in league scoring.

Brothers, who has led the GOJHL, NCAA DIII, and the BeNeLiga in scoring, joined EGDL only a few weeks ago, but has shown his scoring touch was not rusty, racking up 18 points in his first 9 games.

Brothers played for the Chatham Maroons, before moving on to the ACHA.

Both players have made stops in Belgium, and played together last season in Sweden for Kiruna AIF.
