Magliaro, MacLeod, Lancers Running For BIPOC Voices Scholarship
Chatham’s Giovanni Magliaro and Brooke MacLeod, and their University of Windsor Lancers soccer teammates will be participating in the David Goggins Challenge to raise money for the Voices of Excellence BIPOC Scholarship.
“The challenge is run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours,” Magliaro explained to CKSN.
“We’re doing this in hopes of collecting pledges to help fund this scholarship. I will be participating in this challenge and I just wanted to help get more funds by letting more people know about what we’re doing.”
The event will take place from March 5-7.
“With our recent education initiatives surrounding anti-racism, we saw an opportunity to take lessons learned and turn them into action,” said Lancers men’s head coach Ryan Mendonca of raising funds for the University’s scholarship through this initiative.
“With fund-raising for a BIPOC Scholarship such as Voices of Excellence, we believe that we can make a difference at our school and in society, for today and for the future. With the risk of surrounding cliche, it all starts with the first step, speaking up, standing up and taking action. This is our first step, our first action, this is who we are as Lancer soccer.”
