Brooke MacKinnon Ends A Successful NCAA Career

Endings are never easy, especially when you’ve had the success experienced by Chatham Brooke MacKinnon during her NCAA golf career at Hartford University.

MacKinnon’s NCAA career came to a close at this past weekend at the MAAC Championship.

“It is pretty surreal to be honest,” said MacKinnon of finishing her college golf career.

“I was told that college flies by and I can say it definitely did. It’s unfortunate that I missed out on a year due to COVID but I’m very happy with my experience.”

MacKinnon went out in style as well, earning her personal career highlight in her second to last event.

“My personal highlight was definitely winning my first college tournament last week. It was amazing to finish my round strong and get the victory.”

MacKinnon won the Hartford/Gillette Invitational and was named the MAAC Golfer of the Week for her efforts.

At the MAAC Conference championship, MacKinnon finished 25th overall. Her teammate, fellow senior, and best friend Maria Lozon won the event.

“The thing I will remember most is the conference championship tournaments with my team. My best friend won and it was a ton of fun watching her play well all weekend. I will definitely never forget the feeling of playing with my team in Florida.”

Now, the Pre-Med Biology student, who is a four time MAAC All-Academic Team member, has uncertainty ahead. A member of Maple City Golf and Country Club in Chatham, MacKinnon has a bright future ahead regardles of what she decides to do.

“I am not sure what I will be doing next. I might go back to school and get a masters, but I also might work for a year and then go back to school. The ultimate goal for me is medical school.”
