The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has cancelled their 2021 induction ceremony.

“I wanted to inform you all directly of a decision our Board of Directors has made at our April Board meeting,” Sports Hall of Fame board member Tom Hardie wrote.

“The uncertainty of this pandemic with its new variants has caused great concerns across the nation let alone our province and city. This evening is very special for the  inductees, their families and friends and we wanted to maintain that level of professionalism but couldn’t do it with an uncertain future. After much consideration and  deliberation the Board of Directors of the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has unanimously voted to cancel the 2021 Banquet and Induction Ceremony.”

The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame will continue to accept nominations until May 1st, 2022 for consideration for Induction to the Hall of Fame in 2022.

This is the second straight year the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame will not hold a ceremony.
