The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) has hired Brent Garbutt as commissioner.

“With Brent Garbutt’s expertise and drive, the GOJHL will continue to support player development and act as a vital source of opportunity and growth for young players,” said Scott Miller, GOJHL Chairman in a league news release.

“We are highly confident in Brent’s ability to navigate the needs of the League and provide integral solutions and innovations. I look forward to working with him moving forward.”

Garbutt joins the GOJHL from Ontario University Athletics (OUA) where he was their Manager of Sport, while also currently working as a Video Coordinator in the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Situation Room.

“I am honoured and thrilled for the opportunity and trust the GOJHL Board of Directors has afforded me,” stated Garbutt in the news release.

“The GOJHL is a tremendous league with a great product, a vast alumni network and very talented players, coaches and staff. I am very excited to work with Scott Miller and the rest of the Board along with all other League Governors in further building the GOJHL brand and executing the GOJHL’s vision.”
