Walpole Island’s Taryn Jacobs made an NCAA Division I commitment to play hockey for RPI.

The defender, who played last season with the PWHL’s Southwest Wildcats is excited to join the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers hockey program.

“I am extremely excited and honoured to announce my commitment to play DI hockey at RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute),” Jacobs wrote.

“A huge thank you goes out to all of my coaches, trainers, teammates, friends, and family who’ve helped and supported me throughout my hockey career so far. Can’t wait to be an Engineer.”

In her rookie season in the PWHL, Jacobs, who has long been considered one of the area top hockey prospects, collected 12 points in 36 games.
