Katona Wins Ontario Match Play Championships

Tilbury’s Hailey Katona won the Ontario Women’s Match Player Championship this past week.

“What an unbelievable week at the Ontario Women’s Match Play Championship. I am so honoured to be this year’s champion,” said following her win.

Katona, 19, defeated Sadie Dewinton-Davies in the semi-finals, before winning 6&4 over Ottawa’s Ashley Lafontaine in the final.

Katona recently completed her first NCAA golf season at Georgia Southern, and will be transferring to play for Mercer University.

Next up for the Tilbury Golf Club member is the Alberta Championships (July 13-15 in Edmonton), Canadian Amateur Championships (July 27-30 in Spruce Grove, Alberta)., and Ontario Amateur Championships (August 16-19) in Amherstburg.
