Canada Upset By Serbia In Opener
It was not the start Team Canada wanted.
Canada’s women’s basketball team fell to Serbia, 72-68 to open their Olympic basketball tournament. The defeat puts instant pressure on Canada who are now at risk of failing to qualify for the medal rounds.
Chatham’s Bridget Carleton spent more than 32 minutes on the floor, second only on Canada to WNBA star Kia Nurse. Carleton had 7-points, 5-rebounds, 2-assists, and 2-steals in the game.
Chatham born Miranda Ayim had 2-points in just over 15 minutes for Canada.
Canada will play Korea in a must win match up on Thursday.
