Admirals Late Strike Sinks Blades

Blades rookie goaltender Jake Vancoillie struggles to see a
point shot as team mate Cameron Hazard tries to cover two Admiral
attackers during a penalty kill.

After erasing a two goal deficit in the third period, the Blades allowed the Amherstburg Admirals score a late goal for the win, and 2 points. Trailing 3-1 at the start of the final period Blades forward Tate Bowden scored at the 4:26 mark to cut the Admirals lead to one. Eight minutes later it would be Bowden scoring his second of the period, tying the game at 3-3. Unfortunately for Blenheim the hockey gods were not on their side as Admirals Matt Clifford scored his second goal of the game with 1:30 left in the game for the win.

Owen Papulkas scored for the Admirals 5:24 into the first. Blenheim’s Trent Amaro replied for the Blades late into the period to tie up the game, but a minute and a half later Brandon Salvati scored for the Admirals to send them to the intermission up by a goal. Late into the second (19:38), Max Clifford scored his first goal of the night to give his team a 3-1 lead to end the second.

Newly acquired Evan Wells made his first appearance in a Blades uniform and was held off the score sheet. Wells appeared in 14 games for the Chatham Maroons this season before coming to the Blades.
