Breanne Nicholas Named Captain Canada, Leads Team

Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas has been named the captain of Team Canada’s Rugby 7s team for the Emirate Dubai 7s tournament.

Nicholas, who also represented Canada this past summer at the Tokyo Olympics, scored 17-points for Canada in their opening matches on Friday.

Canada fell to Fiji 28-26 before beating Ireland 21-17.

On the second day of competition, Canada lost all three games they played, dropping matches to Great Britain 24-7, Russia 17-10, and the USA 17-7.

Nicholas ended the tournament leading Canada with 24-points, and topped all Canadian scorers with 7-conversions in the tournament.
