Crushing It, Three Chatham-Kent Crush Teams Win Gold
Three Chatham-Kent Crush hockey teams took gold this weekend at the St. Thomas Panthers on the Prowl Tournament.
The U15C Crush team went undefeated, beating the Huron Heat 2-1, the North Middlesex Stars 5-0, and the St. Thomas Panthers 6-1 in the round robin. In the semi-finals, they beat the North Middlesex Stars 6-2. In the finals Chatham-Kent played the Huron Heat to a tie, with the game going to overtime, then a shootout. The Crush won 4-3.
Next to win was the Chatham-Kent Crush U13B team. In the round robin, they beat the North Bay Ice Boltz 3-0, the Peterborough Ice Kats 8-1, and lost to the Walkerton Capitals 5-3. They moved onto the semi-final and beat the St. Thomas Panthers 2-1. In the final, CK met the Walkerton Capital again, this time winning 2-1.
Finally, the U13HL Chatham-Kent Crush team also won, going undefeated. They beat the Wilmot Wolverines 5-2, the Stoney Creek Sabres 8-1, the St. Thomas Panthers 4-0, and the Port Colborne Wave 8-0. In the finals, the Wilmot Wolvernines took them to overtime, but the Crush persevered, winning 2-1!
