#1 Our Olympians – CK’s Top 10 Sports Stories of 2021
The Tokyo Olympics were a showcase of Chatham-Kent athleticism. While some entered with team’s considered medal contenders, CK was shut out in that regard, but was on display with a talent-filled lineup.
Women’s basketball player Miranda Ayim who was born and raised in Chatham carried Canada’s flag into the opening ceremonies. She was joined by Chatham’s Bridget Carleton on the hard court in the tournament.
On the field, Breanne Nicholas played a key role for Canada’s Rugby 7s program.
Kyle Wammes made his Olympic debut for Canada’s cycling team, while Alex Hyndman represented Canada at the paralympics.
It was an amazing group, and a spectacular representation of the talented athletes who hail from Chatham-Kent, which is why the Tokyo Olympics and our CK Olympians are our top story for 2021.
