#8 McPherson A Wall In Rookie Campaign – CK’s Top 10 Sports Stories of 2021
Jessie McPherson was impossible to beat in her rookie NCAA season with the University of Vermont.
She opened her NCAA career with a shutout in her first game, and followed it up with a shutout in her second, which was the first time in Vermont history a rookie netminder had done so.
She bagan picking up Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week and Goalie of the Week honours, and eventually made Vermont history again as the first rookie to ever be named Hockey East Rookie of the Year in school history.
McPherson was also named Vermont’s Team MVP, and was invited to Hockey Canada’s Development camp.
