Cheyne Matheson On The Move
After two seasons with EG Diez-Limburg in Germany, Wheatley’s Cheyne Matheson is moving to a new German team.
Matheson signed with Deggendorfer SC, but was emotional about his departure from his previous team.
“At this point in my career I felt like this is a step I needed to take, it was emotional, but I think in the end it’s the right choice for me, I wish them the best of luck, and appreciate everything they’ve done for me,” he said in a press conference.
Thomas Greilinger of Deggendofer believes Matheson, who had 52 points in only 29 games this season will make an immediate impact with his new team.
“It was important to us that we get a player, who has experience in Europe and especially already in Germany. With Cheyne we get a striker who is always good for a goal but also good for his teammates. In addition, he has proven that he scores goals not only against the weaker teams, but also against strong teams, he finds ways to score goals. He is a player type that is currently very sought after, but hardly found on the market. This is why we are very glad it worked out with commitment. “
