Group Looking At Chatham To House Semi-Professional Baseball Team
The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is one of Canada’s longest running and most successful baseball leagues.
In the near future, an IBL expansion team could be landing in Chatham.
A prospective owner is in conversation with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in attempts to land a franchise for Chatham-Kent to play out of Chatham’s Fergie Jenkins Field.
Chatham-Kent would be the Southern-most team in the league which currently includes London, Brantford, Barrie, Guelph, Hamilton, Toronto, Kitchener, and Welland.
Dozens of Major League Baseball players, including Fergie Jenkins, Dave Rozema, Jesse Orosco, Pete Orr, Fred Thomas, Rob Ducey, and Goody Rosen, have suited up in the IBL.
