Chatham Coloured All-Stars Receive Order of Sport
The Chatham Coloured All-Stars are finally receiving the recognition they deserve. The fabled local team, who became the first all-Black baseball team to win a provincial championship in 1934 will receive the Order of Sport, and be inducted by the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame into the Trailblazer category.
Also being inducted are Hayley Wickenheiser, Adam van Koeverden, Brian Williams, and Dwayne de Rosario.
The All-Stars have been snubbed five straight years by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, but now are earning an even higher honour. The Order of Sport is the highest honour that can be instilled upon a team or athlete.
The induction ceremony will take place October 6 in Toronto.
