David Brown Signs With OHL’s Saginaw Spirit
Blenheim’s David Brown has signed a standard player agreement with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit prior to the 2022-2023 OHL season.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to sign with the Spirit,” Brown told CKSN.ca. “This has been something I’ve been working toward for a long time and now that it’s finally happened I’m super happy and excited.”
Last season Brown starred with the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons scoring a point per game in both the regular season and playoffs. In the regular season, Brown notched 21 goals and 47 points in 47 games, which he followed up with 22 points in 22 games in the postseason helping Chatham to a Western Conference Championship, and Sutherland Cup final appearance.
“We are thrilled to add David Brown to our roster,” said Spirit general manager Dave Drinkill in a team news release. “When we released David from training camp last year, we asked him to work on his skating and his size. He showed up to camp this year and proved he deserved a spot on our roster by addressing those specific areas in his game and leading our camp in points.”
Brown, a Chatham-Kent Cyclones alumni, was originally a 7th round pick, 135th overall by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection draft.
