Former Maroons Join Killer Bees
Cam Welch and Nolan DeKoning, two of last season’s 20-year-old members of the Chatham Maroons, will continue playing this season for the WOSHL’s Alvinston Killer Bees.
Welch was one of the top scorers last season for the Chatham Maroons helping them to a GOJHL Western Conference championship. In the regular season Welch compiled 18 goals and 52 points in 43 games before tacking on 17 points in 17 playoff games.
DeKoning spent the majority of his Junior career playing for the GOJHL’s Sarnia Legionnaires before joining Chatham midway through last season. He was Chatham’s starter throughout the playoffs leading them to the Sutherland Cup final.
Last season the Alvinston Killer Bees finished last in the five team WOSHL. This year the league has expanded to nine teams in Alvinston, Delhi, Elora, Plattsville, Erin, Stratford, Tilbury, Tillsonburg, and Strathroy.
