One of the new franchises to join the Western Ontario Super League (WOSHL), the Tilbury Bluebirds had an impressive debut.

In front of over 450 fans, the Birds shutout the visiting Delhi Flames by a 7-0 score. The town of Tilbury seems like they were really happy to have a high-level team play out of their barn, and came out to give them some hometown love.

The Bluebirds have several local players, and they put their marks on the scoreboard, with Travis Winkworth and Nick Tetreault scoring goals. The others who scored for Tilbury were Stefane Crevier, Dylan Denomme, Austen Brassard, Mitch Van Teeling and Kyler Carter. In net the Bluebirds had former Leamington Flyer standout, Ryan Polidori.

The WOSHL is in its second season of operation, and was developed to allow player who had completed their junior, university or pro careers a place to still play competitive hockey. The league had four teams last season, and added five teams this year for a total of nine.

The team is not home again until October 15, when they host the Stratford Fighting Irish for a 7:30 puck drop.
