Stonehouse To Play For Team Canada
Blenheim’s Abby Stonehouse was named to Team Canada for the upcoming World U-18 Hockey Championship being held January 8-15 in Östersund, Sweden.
This season Stonehouse is scoring more than a point per game for the London Devilettes recording 23 points in 20 games in the OWHL U22-Elite.
“After a competitive camp this summer, we are excited with the group we have put together for the upcoming world championship,” said Gina Kingsbury, director of hockey operations. “Our coaching staff and scouts have done a tremendous job at identifying the next group of elite athletes who will contribute to our women’s program. The team is motivated and excited for the opportunity to defend gold in Sweden.”
That group includes seven returning members from Canada’s 2022 U-18 World Championship gold medal-winning team. Among those returnees are a pair of Stonehouse’s London teammates, Jocelyn Amos and Emmalee Pais.
