Bridget Carlton is the CKSN Newsmaker of 2022
Bridget Carleton had big year with several accomplishments.
The small forward from Chatham was named to the All-Star Five at the FIBA Worlds Cup in 2022 in Sydney, Australia.
Carleton led Canada to its best finish at a Women’s World Cup since winning bronze in 1986.
Carlton also signed to play in the FIBA’s EuroLeague Women’s team with Spain’s Perfumerias Avenida. EuroLeague is the best professional basketball league outside the WNBA featuring teams from nine nations.
Carleton recently finished her fourth season in the WNBA, playing with the Minnesota Lynx. This season she averaged 4.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Carleton is a restricted free agent after playing four seasons with the Lynx.
Also this year, John McGregor Secondary School held “Bridget Carleton Night” and lifted a banner with her photo as a tribute to the basketball star.
As well, Sons of Kent Brewery paid tribute to the star by releasing a beer in her name — BC #6.
